Head of Service Dr Frédéric BERTHIER
Activities The primary role of the Medical Information Department (known as the “DIM”) is to collect, process, transmit and utilise medical information about patients with the aim of assessing and pricing the hospital’s medical activity.

It was created in response to the rise of information technology and the need to manage healthcare spending.

The DIM applies a national programme referred to as the “Information Systems Medicalisation Scheme” (PMSI), which details the activity of each department and guides the allocation of budgets as part of an approach known as “Activity-based Pricing” (T2A) for healthcare institutions.

The DIM is a cross-disciplinary medical service under the responsibility of a Head of Service, assisted by a Deputy Head of Service (both doctors) and medical IT technicians.

It works in close collaboration with the hospital consultants, the senior general management and the finance and IT departments.

Its second role is to communicate, manage and archive medical files.

The rules on confidentiality of personal medical records are laid down in the DIM’s internal rules, which are themselves an integral part of the hospital’s internal regulations.

The DIM’s Head of Service guarantees compliance with the rules on medical secrecy and the code of medical deontology.
